BANG, BANG! “WHAT THE F@#$!!!!!”

Nothing like the piercing high pitched shriek of an adolescent female to wake up to in the morning.

           “LEXINGTON F-ING WETHERSON!!!!!!”    

            Here it comes, Lex thought
          “You have to be the most RETARED, person I have ever in my life met, and I have met a few in my day!”
          Lex’s bedroom door blew open from a major, death inflicting, sidekick.
He flung his sheets over his head. This was becoming a daily routine, and he was friggen tired of it.
         In popped Alice, and all her happy sunshine.
She was wearing her usual attire. Several layers of shirts and a pair of tight jeans, with several buckles and belts attached at random places. The red streak and under layer in her black hair, seemed to burning an even brighter shade today.
“When I say 6:30, I F-ing mean 6:30!”
Lex rolled over with moan, tired of hearing the same crap that  hissed out of  the space between her fangs. No pun intended.
She flung him back over, and slammed him against the wall.
“This is serious Lex, I’m starting to think you want to burn!”
Lex slung the now useless covers off of himself. Alice’s fear of the sun was so childish.
“You know like five minutes in daylight won’t kill us Alice.”
Even though sunlight didn’t instantly kill vampires, it did leave some nasty burns over time. He was in sunlight all the time though. The trick was when he felt to hot, he’d roll his sleeves down, and put his hood up. This made him one of the tannest of his kind, and he was quite proud of this fact.
Alice in her odd maternal habits, was getting his backpack ready for him, as he threw on a band’ T and some skinny jeans.
“Don’t be so naïve Lex, I know the myths aren’t always fully accurate, but there are some truth to them, and one day when you burn to a crisp in front of everyone, don’t come crying to me, because I’m not going to help you when the scientists come to take you away and dissect you!”
Of course she was lying.
Alice was like a big sister to him, and she would never let that happen.
She cared for all her friends like that, she just had her own way of showing it. Alice liked to follow and all the ancient codes and such, and tried to make sure that they did the same. Which to most would be considered uhm, well, controlling, but Lex was one of the only people in the world who understood her ways. So he dealt with them every day, brushing every pestering demand, and insulting critique off his shoulders.
He slid his shoes on and hurried out the door. Alice stopped him in the hallway with his backpack and a zip up hoodie of his.
“you should take this, ok, just in case.” she said. “I heard the it’s gonna be a really bright day.”
Not able to resist the concerned look in her eyes, he slung the backpack over his shoulders and snatched the hoodie from her.
“Good” she replied in delight. Which he knew meant “Thank you.” in Alice language.
“Now get in the F-ing car retard!”
They rushed out the front door, and zipped into her car. Which would be a blink to a regular human.
Lex threw his backpack beneath his seat and slammed the door closed.
Please let today go good, it’s the friggen day before spring break. He prayed.

When they arrived to School the sun was just peeking out into the sky.
Alice zipped swiftly to class.
As she paced at human speed, she glanced back over her shoulder and yelled for Lex to lock the car. Then she flung her hood over her head and continued to the senior hallway entrance.
Lex sighed at her paranoia.
He locked the car and headed toward the freshman hallway. A trickle of sunlight made his skin tingle.
He pushed the door open, and looked forward to find his friends waiting for him as always against the empty hallway walls, which was conveniently placed for a group such as themselves.
He started to walk toward them. When, as everyday he was smothered by the usual, sudden, and overly compassionate “Good Morning” hug of his Bisexual friend Zero.
“Morning, Lexington!” Zero sang.
No one knew why Zero’s parents gave him the suggestive name they did, no one ever asked him that question though. In chance that it would a touchy subject, that would make his puppy dog face burst into tears.
“Hey Zero” Lex managed to puff out. Zero’s hugs always meant well, but were huge and overly done. Also his skinny clothes didn’t hide the feel of his boney body.
Zero wore everything skinny, with the occasional pair of Tripp pants.
“You gonna let me go now?”
“Nope.” He replied
Lex sighed, knowing not to fight off the hug or it would get worse.
Zero was sensitive, but he also one of the strongest vamps in the group. Despite his scrawny “scene kid” appearance. Lex wondered where it all came from.
“You two faggots ever getting a domestic partnership?” Scoffed an overly arrogant voice. There stood Vladimir and his half a face. His hair made a perfect circle around his head., parting just enough to reveal one eye. He was your typical baggy hooded teen, who always appeared to be up to mischief. His white cocky smile flashing through his dark abysmal hair.
“How long’s Zero gonna have to wait for you to come outa’ the closet there Lexy Poo?”
Now that was just cruel, but Vlad was always cruel. About everything. Though, that didn’t mean he had no care for friends. That’s just the way he was, and everyone had learned to deal with it. He was useful in the group. He was great at finding good hunting spots, which in this area wasn’t easy. Seeing as the wild life was decreasing.
Zero flipped his black bangs over his bright blue eyes and made a creepy smile.
“Sorry Mr. Vladimir my eyes are set on someone else.”
Vladimir shivered. Gay jokes made Vlad quite uncomfortable, which made Lex laugh. He loved how Zero knew how to get to him.
Suddenly a sweet aroma filled air. The very scent that made Lex’s heart sing. It was both tempting and soothing to him.
It was the scent of  Serine Valentine. The only girl Lex had ever loved, and the only girl that ever loved him back. They had been going out for awhile now, and they made each other extremely happy. There was just one problem, she was a human. The only human that was aloud in the group, let alone to know there secret.
It took every restraint in Lex’s being to not just take a little nibble, when they where as Alice called it “sucking face”. Since her scent was so..appealing.
“Let him go,” she chuckled in that cute soothing voice Lex loved so much.
“It’s my turn Zero.”
Zero sighed. How can I come between such a pure a beautiful love. He released Lex from his death grip.
Lex stumbled a little then looked up at the gorgeous, hazel eyed angel before him. Her blonde bang barely touching the tip of her thin right eyebrow. Her small petite body
wrapped around his. Warmth filled Lex’s chest.
Then as every morning, this wonderful moment was slaughtered, by the painful back hand which could only belong to Lex’s life long friend Cornelia.
“Yo Alexis what’s new girl heh,” teased a perky overly peppy voice from behind.
Cornelia wasn’t like most vampires. She appeared your average teenage preppy girl, who’s major problems consisted of what to wear today and how low can I get my shorts till its practically considered public nudity.
“Well the scare on my head I guess” Lex snapped. Serine chuckled.
“Your such a human girl.” Cornelia teased. Her blonde curls bouncing as she laughed overly hysterically at her pun.
“No offense Serine.”
“None taken.” Serine joked back.
Lex frowned at serine. Then she gave him an apologetic kiss on the cheek. He hated how they ganged up on him like this.
“Go bathe in the sun Day Walker!” he snapped.
Cornelia was one of the only ones in the group who was tanner than Lex. This was do to the fact that her mother was full human, and her father a vampire. In some cases like these, a genetic mutation would occur causing full immunities to the suns rays. Which meant she could stay out in the sun as long as she pleased. Lex was very jealous of this.
“You think having this golden, beautiful skin is a negative thing Lexi dear.”
Her skin was beutful, don’t get Lex wrong, Cornelia was like a sister to him. Still she was one of the most beautiful vampires in the school. Envied by the many attention craving human snobs that she herself associated with. Her desire to fit in with the human world disgusted Lex.
“You too are always in a tiff,” said a high bubbly voice.
The last and final member of the group arrived. Little Artemis the smallest of the group ,but with the most brains. She was the only Asian one out of the group, which was odd because her name was not Asian at all. (Then again no one’s name in the group was exactly normal.)
That didn’t stop her from dressing like a Japanese Rock star though.
Her hair was always sculpted in some amazing way, and her out fits where always unique an different from most of the American Punk/Scene/Emo styles which where prevalent among today’s teens. They seemed to have there own flair to them.
Today she wore a frilly mini skirt with the buckles hanging off the sides, a pair of combat boots and a plain white T’ Shirt with suspenders.
“ Good thing serine came along, or I swear you too would be together.”
Lex and Cornelia tensed, and Serine just kept chuckling. She loved these vampires, they never ceased to entertain her.
Laughing at the death glares being sent her way, Artemis danced over to Zero and Vladimir. Giving them each a friendly hello hug. The kind she gave to all her friends randomly, though not as violent as Zero’s.
Lexington loved all his friends, they where what kept him going every morning.
Though there were many vampires in this area, these where the only ones he felt connected to. Like a family.
“Don’t forget,” reminded Artemis. “It’s hunting night tonight. Which means Vlad needs to find us a spot, and Lex you’re going to have cancel any date plans you have tonight.”
Lex flashed an apologetic look towards serine.
“Its fine,” she replied “Hope you kill a big juicy Bear.” She smiled at him. It was a nice gesture, even though bears weren’t native to this part of Florida.
He gave her a kiss. “I’ll kill a little deer just for you.” He teased.
She gave him that cute little pouty face he loved, and with that the bell rang.
Serine kissed him goodbye and rushed to class. Zero attacked him once again and left as well. Everyone else said there goodbyes, and scurried off to 1st period.
Everything was going well so far, Lex thought today just might be alright.

He couldn’t be more wrong.
